If Chandni Chowk is where you buy raw material, Lajpat Nagar's Central Market is where you buy things that are already finished — and where most Delhi families quietly dress the eight people who aren't the bride.
It's organised, it's walkable, prices are visible, and nobody expects you to know what a thaan rate is. For a lot of brides that alone makes it the right first market.
What it's good for
Ready-to-wear ethnic Kurta sets, suits, lighter lehengas and sarees you can try on, buy and wear. The functions nobody plans for — the pooja, the small lunch — are solved here in an afternoon.
Family outfits in volume Dressing aunts, cousins and the groom's side. Coordinating eight people is far easier where things exist in sizes than where everything must be stitched.
Fast tailoring and alterations The market has a deep bench of tailors used to short turnarounds, which matters enormously when you're on a trip.
Trousseau basics Everyday wear, nightwear, bags, the unglamorous list that nobody photographs and everybody needs.
What to watch for
A quick, honest consultation in your timezone — and we map all this to your own wedding, together.

- Much of the heavier embroidery is machine work. That is fine — just don't pay hand-work prices for it.
- Sizes run inconsistently between shops. Try things on; don't buy to a label.
- It gets extremely crowded in the evenings and in wedding season. Go on a weekday morning if you can.
- The market closes on Mondays — the single most common wasted trip here.
How I use it with brides
I treat Lajpat Nagar as the pressure valve. The bridal lehenga gets the attention, the time and the budget — and then there are eleven other outfits, for five other people, that still have to exist by the same date. This is where those get solved without touching the main budget.
It is also the right answer for the bride who has arrived from abroad with nothing suitable for a Delhi winter or a Delhi summer, and needs real clothes by Thursday.
Neha's shortlist
I keep my own shortlist of the shops I actually send brides to here — the ones whose work, pricing and after-sales I've tested myself. I don't publish that list publicly, because a shop that was brilliant last season isn't automatically brilliant this one, and I'd rather give you a current answer than an old one. Ask me on a call and you'll get the names, the lane, and who to ask for.
The Family Strategy Session covers up to four people's wardrobes — every function mapped, so nobody is left to the last week.
